We're thankful for the rain this week. The garden has gotten dry. This week will be the first week for the CSA baskets. Looking forward to getting that started. We've been busy this month. The potatoes bugs are thick in the garden so its on our hands and knees picking and squishing them to save the plants. Sounds like everyone is in the same boat. The new green house is working well. Tomatoes are blooming and cucumbers are growing well. We have a lettuce bed in there also and its been cut once but has re-grown again so we'll get another cutting off of it. The strawberries are starting to turn red. Asparagus has started to slow down. Lots of transplanting this week of cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprouts, chinese cabbage and the last of the tomatoes and herbs (sweet basil, spicy basil, cilantro, thyme, chives, and lemon balm). Egg plant goes in the greenhouse and the watermelon and cantalope. The house is getting new siding, windows and basement wall. Arlee has built a fence for the sheep....finally. Gates will go on this week and then they can stay out of my yard. The sheep have gotten really smart...if the gate isn't chained they will push on it to open it and get out. This week Arlee got 2 new horses to break and it is going great. He's never done that before so a learning curve for him and the horses. |
